During the meeting, the minister directed the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to expedite the process of spraying water on the roads. Gopal Rai said in a review meeting, “To tackle the city’s air pollution, the Delhi government is planning to strengthen its green war room monitoring.”

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government in October last year approved a proposal to set up a smog tower at Connaught Place to tackle the city’s air pollution.

Smog towers are designed to serve as large-scale air purifiers. They are usually fitted with multiple layers of air filters, which clean the air of polluted spaces as the poor air from the polluted spaces passes through the air purifiers in the smog towers.

Meanwhile, the minister has also directed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (CWD Delhi and Delhi Rail Metro Corporation) to prepare an action plan to control dust pollution in the national capital.
