More than a year after farmers blocked national highways connecting Delhi in protest against three agricultural laws passed by the central government, roads near Delhi’s Ghazipur border have been opened. One lane has been opened for the movement of vehicles on the Ghazipur border.

Two lanes were also opened on the Singhu border on Wednesday. After nearly a year of protest by the farmers, traffic has started here. New Delhi’s highway traffic seems to be returning to normalcy as vehicles ply on dedicated lanes.

After agreeing with the government on agricultural laws and other demands, the farmers have left for their homes from the Delhi border. Under the leadership of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, all the farmers on the Ghazipur border completely vacated the border on Wednesday. Before vacating the Ghazipur border, the farmers performed religious rituals in the morning and vacated the border, thanking everyone.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha, (SKM, United Farmers Front), which led the protests against three controversial agricultural laws and other issues, said at a press conference in New Delhi that the 15-month protest would end on December 11 and the farmers’ house Will return from Delhi borders.

The farmers’ victory is “an inspiration and tremendous encouragement to those of us who are on the path of satyagraha,” says activist Pujari, who organized several protests, rallies and meetings on the farmer’s issue in Varanasi, his base in Varanasi in north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Farmers called off the protest a day after the government sent a written draft proposal to a five-member committee of the SKM in response to a November 21 letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The prime minister stunned the nation by announcing the repeal of agricultural laws on November 9, the birth anniversary of Sikhism’s founder Guru Nanak, whose followers were from a prominent group of protesting farmers.

The farmers’ letter stated that repeal of agricultural laws was one of their many concerns. Agricultural laws were later repealed in Parliament.

The federal government has also agreed to set up a committee to fix another demand of farmers – minimum support prices for their agricultural produce. The committee will include government officials, agriculture experts and SKM representatives.

The government has also agreed to withdraw all police cases against farmers in connection with violent clashes with security forces over the past several months.

The central government’s letter said Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have given in-principle consent for compensation to farmers who lost their lives and Punjab has already made an announcement.

The government’s proposal states that the electricity bill will also be presented only after consulting all the stakeholders, including the SKM, regarding the sections affected by the farmers.

Hundreds of thousands of farmers, mostly from northern Indian states, camped on the four borders of the national capital since November 26, 2020, demanding repeal of agricultural laws.

But, Abhimanyu also told that if the demands are not met, a decision on the next strategy will be taken in the next meeting.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha leader Kohad said the Morcha had written to the Prime Minister on November 21 with six demands and the government should give him an undertaking to enact an MSP guarantee law in Parliament. They should also dedicate a committee for its drafting in a limited time.

“If the cases registered by the Sangh against the farmers should be quashed and the dependents of those killed in the agitation should be provided compensation and rehabilitation and the martyrs are given place in the martyr’s memorials, only then the farmers will withdraw their protest because they are so gruesome. Not even fond of sitting on the streets in cold and agitation,” demanded Kohad.

He further said that “on December 4, an announcement will be made to end the agitation as soon as the demands are met.”

The agenda of the meeting of the United Kisan Morcha to be held on December 4 is fixed, the leaders of the front will decide on the remaining demands till that day. In the meeting they will decide the nature of the movement and the way the movement will be run.

Also, out of 32 organizations of Punjab, about 29 organizations are in favor of ending the movement and returning home. Their leaders are accepting that if the government is taking a positive stand on the demands of the front, then there is no use in running the agitation.

Leaders like Surjit Singh Phool, Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Baldev Sirsa want the protest to continue till the demands are met by the government, while others are in favor of ending it. All things taken into account, the Morcha will announce its decision on December 4.

New Delhi: Farmers were sitting on the Ghazi border for several months in protest against the three new agricultural laws of the Center, due to which one side of NH 9 was closed. Due to this, commuters using NH 9 were facing a lot of trouble. Due to this, Noida resident Monika Aggarwal filed a petition in the Supreme Court, the petition highlighted the problems faced by commuters due to the ongoing protest against agricultural laws and demanded the removal of the protesters from the Delhi border. Was. After the October 21 order of the Supreme Court, the police have started the process of removing the barricades after talking to the farmer leaders.

Police started removing barricades from Ghazipur border on Friday. Police say that in the coming days, the movement of traffic on NH 9 will start. A similar sight was also seen on the Tikri border on Thursday night.

DCP (East District) Priyanka Kashyap told that they are removing the barricades from Ghazipur and traffic movement will start in the coming days.

Farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are camping at the borders of Delhi to demand repeal of the laws as they claim the new rules will dilute the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system.

A senior police officer said, “They got orders from the superiors and the barricades should be removed. The road has been reopened for traffic. They must have spoken with the farmers and are removing it after assessing the situation.”

In the wake of violence during the farmers’ protests on January 26, the Delhi Police had erected several layers of iron and cement barricades, and at least five layers of barbed wire. Police officers and laborers were also seen removing iron barbed wire on NH 9 in Ghazipur.

DCP (Outer District) Parvinder Singh said, “We are also removing barricades from Tikri border.” JCB machines were seen removing the barricades.

Justice SK Kaul was heading the two-judge bench, which also included Justice MM Sundaresh. The move comes after the Supreme Court’s October 21 order that protesters cannot block public roads indefinitely. Eventually some solution has to be found. We are not against the right to protest even if the legal challenge is pending. But, roads cannot be blocked like this.

The bench was hearing a plea by Noida resident Monika Agarwal, who highlighted the problems being faced by commuters due to the ongoing protest against agricultural laws and sought removal of the protesters from the Delhi border.

“Only showy barricades have been removed so far, soon the three anti-agriculture laws will also be withdrawn. Hail Annadata Satyagraha,” Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi using the hashtag ‘FarmersProtest’.

New Delhi: Samyukta Kisan Morcha – a group of 46 farmers’ unions – has suspended activist Yogendra Yadav for a month after he visited the family of a BJP worker who was killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence earlier this month. Had gone. Mr. Yadav, who is a member of the umbrella body, will not be able to attend any of its meetings or be part of the decision-making process.

Sources said that this action was taken in the meeting held today to demand action from the farmers’ organizations in Punjab. Manjit Singh Rai, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Doaba, told NDTV that 32 farmers’ unions are on the same page on the issue and they also want a public apology from Mr. Yadav.

Sources close to Mr Yadav said he had gone to meet the BJP worker’s family last week as he felt they should.

“He said (in the meeting) that he is not sorry that he went to meet the family, but is ready to apologize for not discussing the issue with the farmers’ body earlier,” sources said.

Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra had allegedly crushed four farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri during a protest earlier this month. Violence and arson ensued soon after, in which four others were killed.

Ashish Mishra was arrested on October 9, five days after he was named in a murder case.

Four more people, including a BJP leader, who were seen inside an SUV crushing farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, have been arrested. These include local BJP leader Sumit Jaiswal, who in the viral video was seen running away from the lead SUV in a convoy of vehicles crushing farmers.

Sumit Jaiswal had earlier lodged a police complaint, claiming that his vehicles lost control and accidentally hit him due to stone pelting by farmers. He said in the complaint that his driver, friend and two BJP workers were later thrashed to death.

Ajay Mishra – who is the junior home minister at the Center – and his son have denied that they were present at the spot, though the minister told NDTV that the SUV belonged to his family.

The farmers and the opposition have demanded that the minister should step down and action should be taken against those responsible.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court said that farmers protesting at Delhi’s borders against three agricultural laws have the right to agitate, but they cannot block roads indefinitely. A bench headed by Justice SK Kaul said it was not against the right to protest even if the legal challenge is pending, but eventually some solution has to be found.

“Farmers have the right to protest but they cannot keep the roads blocked indefinitely. You may have the right to agitate in any way but the roads should not be blocked like this. People have the right to take to the streets. Right but it cannot be blocked.” In which Justice MM Sundaresh is included.

The top court asked the farmers’ unions, involved as parties in the case, to respond on the issue within three weeks and fixed the matter for hearing on December 7. The top court was hearing a PIL filed by Noida resident Monika. Agarwal complained of delay in daily commute due to road jams due to the ongoing protest by the farmers.

Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh have been agitating since last November in three border points of Delhi – Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur – against the three agricultural laws, claiming that the minimum support price system will be scrapped. them at the mercy of large corporations.

More than 10 rounds of talks with the government, which is introducing laws on major agricultural reforms, have failed to break the deadlock between the two sides. Although the Supreme Court has put all the three laws in cold storage, the farmers are adamant on their demand.

Earlier on January 26, a tractor parade in Delhi to highlight the demands of farmer unions to repeal three agricultural laws broke into chaos on the streets of the national capital, as thousands of protesters broke barriers. broke down, clashed with the police, overturned vehicles and hoisted a religious flag from the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort.

Haryana Police on Friday detained a person in connection with the Singhu border incident. Sarabjit Singh, a member of the Nihang community, has surrendered to the police and claimed responsibility for the brutal killing of a man at a farmers’ protest at Kundli near the Delhi-Haryana border. He will be produced in a court in Sonipat on Saturday.

Sources said that Sarabjit Singh’s father Kashmir Singh has also been arrested by Haryana Police from Sonipat.

A man was beaten to death, his hand was amputated and more than 10 wounds were sustained on his body with sharp weapons at a farmer protest site on the Haryana-Delhi Singhu border outside Delhi on Friday morning.

Police said the victim Lakhbir Singh was a laborer from Cheema Khurd village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran and was around 35 years old.

In a video clip that has surfaced on social media, some Nihangs are seen standing near the injured man’s head with his severed left hand. The group is heard accusing them of insulting a Sikh holy book.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of over 40 Indian farmers’ unions against the Centre’s three agricultural laws, said a group of Nihangs have claimed responsibility for the brutal killing when the man read the Sarbalo scripture. Tried to defile.

Earlier, the Haryana Police had said that by the time policemen reached the spot, the person had died. An official statement said that when the police tried to take away the body, the people present at the spot protested.

After much effort, the body was brought to Civil Hospital in Sonipat for post-mortem. An FIR was registered under sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
