In today’s always-online world, work-life balance often seems unrealistic. Ratan Tata says that when your work reflects who you are, it feels less like a burden and more like a purpose. This gives your life meaning. He says that work-life integration is about an alignment where one allows work and life to complement each other.

Ratan Tata is one of India’s most respected industrialists and a global symbol of ethical leadership. As the former chairman of the Tata Group, he transformed a largely India-focused conglomerate into an international powerhouse, while remaining deeply rooted in the values of honesty, compassion, and nation-building.

Tata is also admired for his humility, philanthropy, and commitment to social progress. He once said, “I don’t believe in work-life balance. I believe in work-life integration. Make your work and life meaningful.” His words hold significance because they come from a life that combined success with purpose, not at the expense of either.

What does this quote mean?

This quote doesn’t suggest working constantly or sacrificing your well-being. Instead, it asks whether your work adds meaning to your life, and whether your life enhances your work. Tata says integration is about flexibility, intention, and values. It’s about choosing work that reflects your principles and creating a life where professional growth doesn’t come at the expense of personal happiness. In an age of remote work, side hustles, and passion-driven careers, integration seems more important than ever.

Why does this quote matter today?

Burnout is no longer common; in fact, it’s become routine. Trying to achieve balance without meaning often leads to burnout. Integration shifts the focus from counting hours to creating purpose. When people find meaning in their work, they bring energy, creativity, and resilience to both professional and personal lives. Life feels less fragmented and more fulfilling.

At a summit focused on the idea of a shift in power, Tucker Carlson wasted no time in stating the obvious.

“India is now a major power. You can’t tell them what to do anymore,” Carlson declared, dismissing decades of ingrained US foreign policy habits in a single sentence.

Speaking to India Today Global at the World Government Summit 2026 in Dubai, the former Fox News host offered a geopolitical assessment that challenged Washington’s assumptions, defended India’s sovereignty, and questioned America’s habit of lecturing emerging powers.

“This is not the India we went to 25 years ago. This is a completely different country. And this is not a country you can dictate to. You negotiate terms,” Carlson said.

Carlson was particularly blunt about Washington’s attempts to influence India’s foreign policy decisions, including its energy purchases from Russia.

“Of course, the United States can’t tell India what oil to buy. Unfortunately, people are slow to accept reality. The emerging powers are no longer emerging. They have arrived,” he said.

He described the US pressure tactics as outdated in a world where India, China, and Russia now operate as independent poles of power rather than junior partners.

The era of Modi and influential leaders

When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Carlson carefully avoided offering direct suggestions for Indian politics but left no doubt about his admiration.

“Whether you like Modi or not, Modi is consequential. There’s no question about that,” he said.

“We are living in an era of historic leadership. Modi, Putin, Trump, Erdogan, MBS, MBZ. These are real people. Books will be written about them,” Carlson added.

In contrast, he described most of the Western political class as forgettable. He joked, “Most people live in the time of people like Keir Starmer. Nobody will remember his name next week.”

Biden, Russia, and a Foreign Policy Blunder

Carlson criticized former US President Joe Biden, particularly regarding Washington’s confrontation with Moscow.

“Joe Biden started a war with Russia. He wanted a war with Russia,” Carlson said. “It has hurt the United States. It has hurt the dollar. The sanctions haven’t benefited us at all.”

He argued that isolating Russia had backfired, pushing Moscow closer to Asia and weakening American influence.

“They didn’t isolate Russia,” he said. “They pushed Russia toward China, India, the Middle East. That’s been very bad for the United States.”

Trump’s Tariff Diplomacy

On Donald Trump and his aggressive use of tariffs, Carlson took a more cautious approach, describing it as an experiment whose results are still unclear.

“Tariffs hadn’t been used for generations,” he said. “Then Trump declares Liberation Day and uses them as a diplomatic tool. It’s hard to say right now.”

Nevertheless, Carlson framed Trump’s approach as negotiation rather than punishment. “There’s an opening bid and a real bid,” he said. “That’s how deals are made.”

Carlson also discussed his interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, assessing leadership based on results rather than ideology.

“How are your people doing?” Carlson asked. “Russia is in a much better position than it was 26 years ago.”

He cited Putin’s ability to hold together a vast, diverse country as his greatest achievement. “That’s the most impressive thing he’s done,” Carlson said. “Our leaders haven’t been able to do that.” Journalism, Power, and Telling the Truth

Beyond geopolitics, Carlson spoke at length about journalism itself, arguing that traditional media outlets are still tied to the post-World War II power structure that is now collapsing.

“Journalism was the propaganda arm of the post-war order,” he said. “That system is changing in real time.”

He framed independent media not as rebellion, but as a response to institutional failure. “You can’t use the old structures anymore,” Carlson said. “They’re too invested in the old system, and they lie.”

Carlson’s central argument in Dubai was simple and unsettling for Western capitals: power has shifted, and pretending otherwise will only accelerate the decline.

“India has grown up,” he offered as an example. “Like children. One day you realize you can’t tell them what to do anymore.”

In today’s geopolitics, Carlson suggested, the era of instructions is over. The era of conversation has begun.

“But I’ve told him that I would be very unhappy if he did that, and I don’t think he’s going to do that. I hope he doesn’t.”

How China responded

China has strongly criticized recent U.S. actions in Venezuela and rejected comparisons between Washington’s operations there and Beijing’s claims over Taiwan.

Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for China’s State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said the United States had violated international law by using force against a sovereign state.

“We strongly oppose this,” Chen said at a regular briefing on Wednesday, according to China Daily.

At the same time, Chen warned pro-independence groups in Taiwan, saying: “If ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist forces dare to take reckless actions and cross the red line, we will take resolute measures and strike back directly.”

Some analysts say the U.S. operation in Venezuela, which included attempts to apprehend President Nicolás Maduro and seize control of the country’s oil industry, could embolden Beijing.

Tony Zhao, a senior fellow at Carnegie China, said Washington’s description of the Venezuela operation as law enforcement “bears a striking resemblance to China’s legal characterization of its own plans against Taiwan.”

Emily Thornberry, chair of the British Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, told BBC Radio 4 that the U.S. action in Venezuela “was not a legal action” and could encourage China and Russia.

“It sets a terrible precedent and [it’s] really worrying,” she said. China and Taiwan

China considers Taiwan its territory and says it must be reunited with the mainland. Taiwan has its own democratically elected government, military, and political system, and maintains that its people should determine their own future.

Beijing regards Taiwan as an internal affair, while most Western countries, including the UK, recognize China diplomatically but oppose any unilateral change to the status quo, especially by force.

As of September 27, 2025, the conflict remains intense, and both sides have reported advances and attacks. Russian forces are continuing offensives in several areas. The active border line stretches approximately 1,250 kilometers, involving an estimated 712,000 Russian troops.

Russian Advances and Claims

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has reported capturing the village of Yunakivka in Ukraine’s Sumy region. Russia claims to have captured at least 4,714 square kilometers of territory across the region from January 1 to September 25, 2025. Over the past week (September 16-23), Russia gained 28 square miles of territory. Specific advances include advances south of Poltavka and Novomykolaivka in Zaporozhye, north of Novoivnivka, around Kalynivsk on the Dnieper, and in Stepnohirsk. However, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) assesses that the Russian Ministry of Defense is exaggerating claims to portray an inevitable victory, often using footage of small incursions rather than full control.

Ukrainian Advances and Counteroffensives

Ukrainian forces advanced near Borova, Novopavlivka, the Dobropillya region, and western Zaporozhye Oblast. They took control of Nykanorivka and half of Novye Shakhov in Myrnograd, and advanced on Novopavlivka around Boikivka and Pankivka in Pokrovsk. Further advances were reported near Dobropillya and in the Pokrovsk region, leaving Russian forces divided in several areas. Over the past two months, Ukrainian attacks have targeted 85 Russian military or industrial facilities, including airports and depots. Notable actions include weakening Russian air defenses, destroying energy infrastructure, and attacking ammunition depots, such as in Bohdanivka, Luhansk. Ukraine is using Neptune missiles and drones against Russian bases in Crimea, where sabotage networks are active.

Russian Attacks on Ukraine

Russia launched attacks that caused power outages in Chernihiv, affecting 30,000 consumers. The attacks targeted power plants and railway stations in Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, and Kirovograd, as well as the Azov and Iskander bases. A major airstrike killed at least three people and injured dozens.

Russian casualties are projected to exceed 500,000 by 2022, with some Western estimates putting the number in Ukraine at approximately the same. Ukraine has lost approximately 48% of its pre-war energy capacity due to the attacks.

Technological and Military Developments

Drones and Strategy: Russia is developing fiber-optic FPV repeater drones to increase range and counter nuclear weapons, integrating airborne interception tactics into the battlefield. Ukraine plans to deploy 1,000 interceptor drones daily and destroy Russian refineries, leading to fuel shortages and record-high prices. Russian military logistics are under pressure, with fuel trains derailed and several sites stranded near Pokrovsk.

Allied support: The US is considering lifting sanctions on Ukraine to allow it to use American weapons for long-range attacks. Rheinmetall is planning an ammunition plant in Latvia; Romania will partner with Ukraine on drones under EU funding. Ukraine has lost three of its F-16 aircraft, but their operations continue.

Russian stockpile: Russia has been maintaining a strategic stockpile since July 2025, reflecting its commitment to a long war and a potential NATO conflict. Defense spending may decrease in 2026, but taxes are increasing to finance it.

Political and Diplomatic Updates

Zelensky’s Warnings: At the United Nations, Zelensky urged Russia to prevent a “wider and deeper” escalation of the war or a dangerous arms race. He emphasized Ukraine’s offers, such as battle-tested weapons, and Russia’s refusal to agree to a ceasefire did not.

Trump’s Stance: After meeting with Zelensky, Trump stated that Ukraine could recapture all its territories with NATO/EU support and called Russia a “paper tiger” due to its economic crisis. Russia rejected this, saying there was no option but war; the Kremlin dismissed US-Russia reconciliation as having “virtually zero” results.

An alert has been issued along the India-Nepal border in view of the ongoing protests in Nepal, official sources told news agency. The death toll in the neighbouring country has risen to 19.

According to a report in Nepali daily Himalayan Times, the death toll in the protests has risen to 18, while more than 345 people have been injured in Nepal.

India’s border security force, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), has increased vigil and is keeping a close watch on the situation to prevent any spillover into Indian territory.

According to hospital authorities, at least 17 people have died in various hospitals in Kathmandu alone – 8 at the National Trauma Centre, 3 at Everest Hospital, 3 at Civil Hospital, 2 at Kathmandu Medical College and 1 at Tribhuvan Teaching Hospital.

Two protesters from Sunsari who were injured by bullets during demonstrations in Itahari also died, taking the countrywide death toll to 19. At least 347 injured protesters are being treated in hospitals across the country.

The injured include Generation Z protesters, security personnel and journalists, the report said.

“An alert has been sounded along the Indo-Nepal border in view of the protests in Nepal. The Sashastra Seema Bal is keeping a close watch on it,” officials told ANI.

According to officials, adequate deployment has been made along the border and strict checking has been put in place at several border checkpoints. Coordination with the local administration has also been enhanced to ensure smooth movement of people while maintaining security.

The over 1,751-km-long open Indo-Nepal border across states including Uttarakhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim allows unrestricted movement of citizens of both countries. While this arrangement promotes closer socio-economic and cultural ties, it also requires tight security when there is political unrest or protests in Nepal.

In the past, border alerts have been issued during internal turmoil in Nepal, including the 2015 Madhesi protests that affected trade and cross-border movement.

One of India’s Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), the SSB, which has over 90,000 personnel, maintains a strict vigil and sends regular reports to the Home Ministry. Apart from border security, the SSB is also deployed in counter-terrorism and internal security duties in various parts of India when required.

The SSB is on alert after thousands of youths in Nepal on Monday staged a protest by storming the Parliament against the social media shutdown and alleged government corruption.

The Nepal government has blocked access to several social media platforms, including Facebook, claiming that social media users with fake IDs were spreading hate speech and fake news, and committing fraud and other crimes through some platforms.

NASA’s greatest achievements symbolize human scientific progress and innovation. Two of the most famous of these are the launch of Explorer 1 in 1958, which discovered the Earth’s radiation belts, and the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, when Neil Armstrong took the first human step on the moon. In addition, the revelation of the universe by the Hubble Space Telescope and the unveiling of the mysteries of Mars by the Mars Rovers have exposed our consciousness to space. These revelations, just a few examples, show how important NASA is in the revelation and discovery of the universe. Below are some of NASA’s important milestones.

Within minutes of receiving news of Sputnik’s success, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) moved to build the second American satellite. Explorer 1 was completed within three months.

Explorer 1 was equipped with cosmic ray detection equipment and recorded 12.5 orbits of the Earth per day with measurements of radiation. Explorer 1 was 80 inches (203 cm) long and 6.25 inches (15.9 cm) wide and weighed 30 pounds (14 kg). The satellite’s detection of low cosmic ray flux led scientist James Van Allen to speculate that Explorer 1 had passed through an unknown radiation belt, which was discovered and named the Van Allen radiation belt. It revolutionized our understanding of Earth’s atmosphere and space.

NASA’s Greatest Achievements

Explorer 1 made 58,000 orbits around Earth before being destroyed upon re-entry into Earth in 1970.

Before the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope in 1990, astronomers had been observing stars using ground-based telescopes. However, light is distorted by Earth’s atmosphere, so it was difficult to find. By placing telescopes in space, the Hubble Space Telescope enabled astronomers to see distant objects more clearly than they could see from ground-based telescopes. Because Hubble has made more than 1.5 million astronomical observations and observed more than 40,000 objects in space.

Hubble’s images are among the oldest in the history of astronomy. It has shown that the universe is expanding, captured breathtaking views of galaxies, and published more than 15,000 science papers. Hubble’s complementarity with NASA’s telescopes is still uncovering the mysteries of space.

Chandra X-ray Observatory

Since its launch in 1999, the Chandra X-ray Observatory has enabled scientists to study high-energy activity throughout the universe by observing X-rays, which are absorbed by Earth’s atmosphere. Chandra is 200 times more powerful than Hubble and 25 times more sensitive than any X-ray telescope ever built.

Chandra has given us facts about supernova remnants, black holes, quasars, and dark matter. It has also provided information about the formation of stars, the life cycle of stars and the beginning of the universe. It also recently detected low-energy X-rays coming from Pluto, giving us a new concept about the universe outside our solar system.

NASA’s Juno mission spacecraft was launched on August 5, 2011 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on a mission to the gas-giant planet Jupiter. The spacecraft reached space on July 4, 2016 after traveling about 500 million miles of space. The purpose of the Juno mission was to map the atmospheres, gravity fields and other features of the planets to obtain useful information about their formation and evolution.

Juno’s special power is the power of the sun. The spacecraft has three huge solar panels 30 feet (9 meters) long. On Jan. 13, 2016, Juno became the first spacecraft to use solar power to travel this far from the sun, an astronomical distance of 493 million miles (793 million kilometers).

Juno’s highly elliptical path takes it only 2,600 miles (4,200 kilometers) to the tops of Jupiter’s clouds. Its most surprising discovery was how deeply its famous jet streams, which create Jupiter’s distinctive clouds, extend — 1,864 miles (3,000 kilometers) deeper into the planet than expected. Juno’s data gives us information about Jupiter, and information gained from exploring Jupiter gives us information about Jupiter’s history in the solar system.

Apollo 13

Apollo 13 was launched to the moon on April 11, 1970. But just 55 hours into the flight, a fire broke out, knocking out vital life support systems. The three-member astronaut crew, James Lovell, John Swigert and Fred Hayes, were left adrift in space, more than 200,000 miles from home, with limited oxygen, power and resources.

At this stage of crisis, the NASA Mission Control Operations Laboratory worked around the clock to find a solution. They used the lunar module, originally designed for landing on the moon, to provide shelter for the crew in distress. In fact, they tried to fit into and stay inside the lunar module, using homemade equipment like carbon dioxide scrubbers, plastic bags and adhesive tape available to the astronauts.

A private lunar lander carrying scientific instruments including a drill and vacuum for NASA successfully landed on the moon, the Associated Press reported. Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost lander descended from lunar orbit on autopilot, targeting the slopes of an ancient volcanic dome in Mare Crisium on the northeastern edge of the moon’s near side.

Confirmation of the successful landing came from Firefly’s mission control in Texas, which was tracking the event from 225,000 miles (360,000 kilometers) away.

“You all aced the landing. We’re on the moon,” Firefly’s Will Coogan, the lander’s chief engineer, told the AP. First private lander to land upright
Blue Ghost’s upright and stable landing makes Firefly Aerospace the first private company to land a spacecraft on the moon without crashing or flipping over. Even national space agencies have struggled with lunar landings, with only five countries succeeding: Russia, the US, China, India and Japan.

Just 30 minutes after landing, Blue Ghost began transmitting photos from the lunar surface. The first photo, a selfie, was somewhat obscured by the sun’s glare, while the second photo showed Earth as a distant blue dot against the blackness of space.

NASA’s Commercial Lunar Program

Blue Ghost is part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative, which aims to encourage lunar commerce through private sector competition. NASA paid $101 million for the delivery of ten scientific and technological experiments on the lander, plus an additional $44 million for equipment.

Firefly’s Ray Allensworth confirmed that the lander avoided hazards such as boulders and landed in the designated 328-foot (100-meter) target area.

The mission is expected to last two weeks, after which operations will cease due to lunar night.

The lunar surface and Earth are visible on the horizon, with Blue Ghost’s solar panel, X-band antenna, on the left, and Lexi payload on the right. (Photo: NASA/Firefly Aerospace via AP)

The lander carries a vacuum for collecting samples of lunar soil and a drill capable of measuring temperatures as low as 10 feet (3 meters) below the surface. It also includes a tool designed to eliminate moon dust, a key challenge faced by NASA’s Apollo astronauts who struggled with abrasive particles sticking to their spacesuits and equipment.

On its way to the moon, Blue Ghost took detailed pictures of Earth and later sent back high-resolution photos of the moon’s cratered surface, the AP reports.

Additionally, the onboard receiver successfully picked up signals from the U.S. GPS and European Galileo constellations, an advancement that could improve navigation for future lunar explorers.

More private landers to come
Blue Ghost’s landing sets the stage for even more commercial missions.

Houston-based Intuitive Machines plans to launch its second lunar lander on Thursday, aiming to land at a location near the moon’s south pole. According to the AP, despite a misfire on its first mission last year, the company has successfully returned a U.S. object to the lunar surface for the first time since the Apollo program ended in 1972.

Another lander, built by Japanese company ispace, is three months away from its lunar attempt. Sharing a rocket ride with Blue Ghost on Jan. 15, ispace’s lander is taking a slower, more winding route. The company’s first lander crashes in 2023, adding to the many debris on the moon from failed landing attempts over the decades.

NASA chief scientist Nicky Fox stressed the importance of maintaining a steady pace of two private lunar landings per year, acknowledging that some missions could fail. “This really opens up a new way for us to bring more science to space and to the moon,” Fox said, according to the AP.

This historic expansion is not just about trade – it is about empowering farmers, boosting rural incomes and putting India’s rich agricultural heritage on the global map. From exotic fruits to traditional food items, these first consignments highlight how the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat is creating new opportunities for Indian farmers. Some of the notable agricultural exports undertaken for the first time under the Modi government are as follows:

First sea shipment of Indian Pomegranates to Australia

In what turned out to be a significant milestone for India’s agricultural exports, India successfully shipped the first consignments of premium Sangola and Kesar Pomegranates to Australia respectively by sea. This success has enhanced India’s access to Australia’s fresh fruit market, paving the way for more Indian products to enter global supply chains.

Fig juice exported to Poland for the first time

India’s unique GI-tagged Purandar figs are now making waves in Europe. In 2024, the Modi government facilitated the export of India’s first ready-to-drink fig juice made from Purandar figs to Poland. Earlier in 2022, exports were also made to Germany. Purandar figs are known for their unique taste and texture. The event is a significant milestone in promoting India’s unique agricultural products on the global platform.

Dragon fruit exported to London, Bahrain for the first time

As part of India’s effort to diversify its fruit exports, the fibre and mineral-rich dragon fruit, locally known as ‘kamalam’, was exported to London and Bahrain in 2021. The consignment exported to London was sourced from farmers in the Kutch region of Gujarat, while the consignment sent to Bahrain was sourced from farmers in West Midnapore (West Bengal).

First trial shipment of fresh pomegranates to the US

In 2023, India took a major step towards expanding its presence in the US market by exporting its first trial shipment of fresh pomegranates by air to the US. Kesar pomegranates from Maharashtra have substantial export potential and nearly 50 per cent of the fruit exports from the country come from the Solapur district of the state.

Assam’s ‘lateku’ fruit exported to Dubai

In a major achievement for the Northeast, in 2021, the first consignment of Burmese grapes, known as ‘lateku’ in Assamese, was shipped to Dubai from Guwahati via Delhi. This export put Assam’s exotic products on the global map, proving the potential of India’s northeastern states in international trade.

Jackfruit from Tripura to Germany

Germany got a chance to taste India’s fresh jackfruit from Tripura in 2021. For the first time, a consignment of fresh jackfruit was exported from Tripura to Germany by air. The first consignment of one metric tonne of fresh jackfruit was flagged off from Agartala. This reflects the efforts being made to bring the northeastern states on India’s export map of agricultural and processed food products.

King Chilli ‘Raja Mircha’ from Nagaland sent to London for the first time

In 2021, boosting the export of GI products from the Northeast region, a consignment of ‘Raja Mircha’ also known as King Chilli from Nagaland was sent to London via Guwahati by air for the first time. Given its perishable nature, exporting this product was a challenge but India successfully facilitated its air shipment, highlighting India’s capabilities in handling specialty agri-exports.

First export of ‘Red Rice’ from Assam to the US

In 2021, boosting India’s rice export potential, the first consignment of ‘Red Rice’ was sent to the US. The iron-rich ‘Red Rice’ is grown in the Brahmaputra Valley of Assam without any chemical fertilizers. This variety of rice is called ‘Bao-Dhaan’, which is an integral part of Assamese cuisine.

First consignment of Vazhakulam pineapples from Kerala to Dubai and Sharjah

In 2022, India flagged off the first consignment of GI tagged “Vazhakulam pineapples” from Vazhakulam, Ernakulam, Kerala to Dubai and Sharjah, UAE. This will provide better income to pineapple farmers and more recognition to their product in the global market.
