New Delhi: India has achieved a historic feat in the fight against Covid 19. During the last 24 hours, more than 4.3 million people were given vaccine doses. This is by far the largest immunization coverage in the country in a single day. On the 80th day of the vaccination campaign (April 5, 2021), 43,00,966 vaccines were administered. Of these, 39,00,505 beneficiaries were given the first dose of vaccine through 48,095 sessions while 4,00,461 beneficiaries received the second dose of the vaccine.
As another significant achievement, the number of Covid 19 vaccinations in the country today has exceeded 8.31 crores. The first dose vaccination has crossed the historical figure of 7 crore (7,22,77,309) doses.
According to the preliminary report, a total of 8,31,10,926 vaccines were administered through 12,83,816 sessions of Covid-19 vaccination across the country till 7 am today. These include 89,60,061 health workers (HCWs) who received the first dose and 53,71,162 health workers who have been given the second dose. 97,28,713 frontline workers (FLW) have been awarded the first, while 42,64,691 frontline workers have been awarded the second dose. The first vaccine has been given to 3,41,06,071 beneficiaries over 60 years of age and the second vaccine to 8,12,237 beneficiaries above 60 years of age. The first vaccine has been given to 1,94,82,464 beneficiaries over 45 years of age and the second vaccine to 3,85,527 beneficiaries above 45 years of age.
The number of trials of Covid 19 in the country has crossed the 25 crore mark. The rate of positive cases has increased marginally to 5.07%.
In the last 24 hours 96,982 new cases have been registered.
Eight states, including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have recorded an increase in daily new cases of Covid. 80.04% of new cases have been reported from these 8 states.
Maharashtra has the highest number of daily new cases reported at 47,288. After this, 7,302 new cases have been reported in Chhattisgarh and 5,279 in Karnataka.
Twelve states are showing an increase in new cases daily, as indicated below.
Total active cases in India have reached 7,88,223. These cases now comprise 6.21 percent of the total positive cases in the country. In the last 24 hours, a total of 46,393 cases were reported out of total active cases.
Maharashtra accounts for 57.42 per cent of the total active cases in the country.
The total number of recovery cases in India (recovery) to date has been 1,17,32,279. The national recovery rate is 92.48 percent.

There have been 446 deaths in the last 24 hours.
80.94 percent of new deaths have been reported from 8 states. The maximum death toll in Maharashtra is (155). Punjab has recorded 72 deaths daily.
