On Monday at least 19 people were killed in the attack on Afghanistan’s largest university, a man injured in an ambulance at the Istekhalal Hospital after a gunslinger attack at the University of Kabul.
The attack coincided with a book fair, which drew high-ranking officials from Afghanistan and Iran, including Iranian ambassador Bahadur Amnion, to a vast complex.
It was not immediately clear whether any of the officers were killed or injured. Home Office officials initially told the NDP that the officers had been identified as targets of the attack.
The video was posted on social media and showed students climbing the walls of the university to escape campus amid the sounds of gunfire. Afghan journalists also posted graphic photos of the massacre.
Another educational center is under attack: # Kabul University; Terrorist groups have shown their fear of knowledge and a bright future for Afghan youth. Their dark ideologies cannot resist the bright world, and educated young people will not be soldiers of their feet.
Taliban officials, whose officials are engaged in peace talks with the US-backed government, have denied responsibility. No other group called for an immediate attack.
The incident is the second attack on an educational institution in Kabul in less than 10 days after a suicide bomber blew up outside an educational center late last month, killing more than 20 people, including many. students. Islamic State pleaded guilty to this attack.
In 2018, dozens of teenagers preparing for their university entrance exams at an education center in the Shi’ite district of Kabul were killed in an ISIS suicide bombing. And in 2016, 13 people were killed in an attack on the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul. There has been a serious history of attacks on educational facilities in Kabul in recent years. Last year, a bomb at Kabul University killed eight people.
