Few days after the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), The Union home minister Amit Shah, strongly replied to Opposition leaders for the claims that are being made regarding opposing this act. he said, that This is our sovereign right to ensure the citizenship of every Indian in our country, he further added, that the law will never be taken back at any cost, and the BJP-led government will never compromise with it.
As per the opposition, a Congress leader was found saying that they would repeal this Act, when they will come in power. To which, Shah slammed them by saying, that even the Opposition is well aware that there is no chance of their coming to power.
The opposition also raised the questions regarding the timing of implementing this act, days before the commencement of the Lok Sabha elections, to which Shah replied, “the question of timings does not arise, as it has been clearly mentioned in the 2019 manifesto that Central Government will bring CAA and provide Indian citizenship to refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh” and also he censured the opposition by saying “All the opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, and Mamata Banerjee, are doing jhooth ki rajneeti (politics of lies).
