National Voters Day will be celebrated tomorrow, ‘Digital Voter Card’ will be launched

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India is going to celebrate the 11th National Voters’ Day on 25 January 2021. During this time, the Election Commission is going to give a big gift to the voters. Let us know that on January 25, the digital voter card will be launched in the country. Voters will be able to download this card from the Internet as Aadhaar. The Electronic Electors Photo Identity App (e-Epic) will be launched on Monday by the Election Commission.

The Honorable President of India Ramnath Kovind will be the Chief Guest at the National Function being organized by the Election Commission in New Delhi. The event will be held at the Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi and will be attended by the Honorable President from the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a virtual manner. Union Minister of Law and Justice, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad will attend the ceremony as a special guest.

The theme of this year’s NVD is ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’, that is, empowering, alert, safe, and knowledgeable voters. It envisages activism and participation of voters during elections. It also focuses on the Election Commission’s commitment to conduct elections safely during the Kovid-19 global epidemic.

National Voters’ Day is celebrated all over the country from 2011 to 25 January every year to celebrate the establishment day of the Election Commission of India i.e. 25 January 1950. The main objective of NVD Utsav is to encourage voters, facilitate them and maximize enrollment, especially for new voters. This day dedicated to the voters of the country is used to spread awareness among voters and promote their participation with information in the electoral process. During the program of NVD, new voters are handed over their voter photo identity cards (EPIC).

During the program, the Honorable President of India will present the National Award for the year 2020-21 and inaugurate the Election Commission’s web radio: ‘Hello Voters’. National Award for Best Electoral Practice awarded to state and district level officials for their outstanding performance in various fields such as IT initiatives, security management, election management during COVID-19, accessible elections and field contribution of voter awareness and outreach. Will go. National awards will also be given to important stakeholders such as national celebrities, CSOs and media groups for their valuable contribution to voter awareness.

Election Commission web radio: ‘Hello voters’: This online digital radio service will broadcast voter awareness programs. It will be available through a link on the Election Commission of India website. The style of Radio Hello Voters’ program is designed to suit the popular FM radio services. It will provide information and education about the election process to voters through songs, plays, discussions, spots, election-related news, etc. in Hindi, English and regional languages ​​across the country.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will inaugurate the e-EPIC program and provide e-epic and voter photo identity cards to five new voters. E-Epic is the digital version of voter photo identity card which can be accessed through the Voter Helpline app and website https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ and https://www.nvsp.in/.

During the program, Mr. Prasad will also release three booklets of the Election Commission. Copies of these documents will be presented to the Honorable President of India. The details of these booklets are as follows:

Conducting Election During Pandemic – A Photo Journey: This photo book presents a challenging journey to conduct elections amidst global epidemics. The Commission successfully conducted several elections in the country, beginning with the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha. Then there were the Legislative Assembly elections in Bihar, which was the largest such campaign worldwide during the global epidemic. By-elections were also held for 60 constituencies in various states of the country.

SVEEP Endeavors: Awareness Initiative during Lok Sabha Elections, 2019: This book provides detailed information about voter awareness intervention, innovation and initiative during the 17th Lok Sabha election held in 2019. In this, voting has been called ‘the great festival of the country’, which is the biggest festival of democracy. It is celebrated across the country, rising above the barriers of gender, caste, creed and religion.

Let’s Do Voting: This is a comic book that aims to make voter education fun and worth thinking about. Targeting young, new and future voters, this comic features interesting and relatable characters to educate voters on the electoral process at large.
