The Prime Minister warmly congratulated President Biden, best wishes for his term, and looked forward to working closely with him to further the Indo-US strategic partnership.

He noted that the Indo-American partnership is strongly rooted in a shared commitment to democratic values and shared strategic interests. He reiterated the importance of working with like-minded countries to ensure a rules-based international system and a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

The Prime Minister and President Biden confirmed the importance of addressing the challenge of global climate change. The Prime Minister welcomed President Biden’s decision to re-commit to the Paris Agreement and highlight the ambitious goals India had set for itself in the field of renewable energy. The Prime Minister welcomed President Biden’s initiative to hold the Climate Leadership Summit in April this year and was eager to participate in it.
