Rouse Avenue Court Special Judge MK Nagpal had reserved his order in the matter on Monday.
Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain, appearing for the investigating agencies, had earlier informed the court that the agencies had sent LRs (Letter Rogatory) to different countries and some developments had taken place in this regard. The CBI had also said that it is working on a new lead.
The court, while seeking reports from the agencies, had said that the allegations mentioned in the chargesheet were “very serious in nature”.
The case, which is being probed by the CBI and the ED, pertains to alleged irregularities in granting Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to the Aircel-Maxis deal.
The FIPB approval was reportedly given in 2006 when Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister.
