BJP leader blames opposition’s false allegations for defeat in 2024 Lok Sabha polls

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Madhavi Latha on Wednesday drew a comparison between the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the Mahabharata, accusing opposition parties of misrepresenting the BJP through false allegations and misinterpretations, which led to the party losing a large chunk of votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Lata, who lost to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi from Hyderabad by a margin of over 3.38 lakh votes, said, “The BJP as a party knows only to fight a direct war. The Pandavas of the Mahabharata only knew to fight a direct war, but the Kauravas knew to do the same thing in another way, they knew to attack from behind.” He said, “The Pandavas won the battle of Kurukshetra, but they lost their kin. They lost the Pancha Pandavas, who are their own children. They lost a great warrior Abhimanyu. So history also tells us that between the war of truth and injustice, truth has to sacrifice its kin and make some sacrifices.” He said, “We have to sacrifice our beloved voters, because wrong allegations, misinterpretation and miscommunication have been foisted on those simple, poor, insecure people of this country.” In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the BJP swept the polls by winning 240 seats. However, this figure is much lower than the impressive 303 seats won by the party in the 2019 elections, which means it has been unable to convert its vote share into seats this time.
