Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday that he would not be vaccinated for coronavirus infection as he did not trust the government.
The Bharatiya Janata Party reprimanded Akhilesh Yadav for his comment on the Covid-19 vaccine and said that if he does not trust the Indian vaccine, then allow him to go to China and get the vaccine.
The Samajwadi Party chief said, “I am not going to get the vaccine right now. How can I trust the BJP vaccine, everyone will get free vaccines when our government is formed.”
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson R.P. Singh reprimanded Akhilesh Yadav for his remarks on the Kovid-19 vaccine and said that if he does not trust the Indian vaccine, then allow him to go to China and get vaccinated.
BJP leader Anila Singh said, “She is speaking as if she is a coronavirus herself. She does not have the understanding that the vaccine has been prepared by pharmaceutical companies with the support of the government.”
The SP chief’s remarks come on a day when a dry run for the Kovid-19 vaccine is being run nationwide before the actual vaccine rollout.
On Friday, a government-appointed panel of experts approved the Kovid-19 vaccine developed for emergency use by AstraZeneca and Oxford University and will send its recommendations to the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), the country’s drugs regulator.
Earlier today, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that the Covid-19 vaccine will be provided free of cost across the country. He said that it will be free not only in Delhi but in the whole country.
The Union Health Minister appealed to the people not to heed the rumors and saddened that ensuring the safety and efficacy of the vaccine was a priority of the government. “There were a lot of rumors during the polio vaccination but people took the vaccine and India is now polio free,” he said.
