New Delhi: The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) on Wednesday protested against the amendment proposed by the Center of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCTD) Act, 1991 at Jantar-Mantar.
The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee pulled up the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government for the proposed amendment of the National Capital Territory of Delhi Act and lavishly targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the last two months.
DPCC President Anil Chaudhary said, “AAP government led by Kejriwal is acting at the behest of BJP. It has been more than two months since the Center proposed an amendment to the NCTD Act, 1991, but Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal maintained silence over it. “
On Monday, the Center introduced the new Bill in the Lok Sabha, an amendment to the National Capital Territory of Delhi Government Act, 1991, as well as better define the role of the Council of Ministers and Lieutenant Governors (LG) in Delhi. Wants to The Bill gives discretionary powers to the Lieutenant Governor even in those cases where the Legislative Assembly of Delhi has the right to make laws.
Soon after the central government’s move, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused the BJP-led Center of giving more power to the lieutenant governor and attempting to run the Delhi government through the back door.
