Corona Update: More than 50 lakh doses given in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat

New Delhi: Six states Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh continue to increase daily new cases of Covid. These 6 states account for 79.57 per cent of the new cases registered. There have been 62,258 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra has the highest number of 36,902 daily new cases reported. This is followed by Punjab 3,122 while Chhattisgarh has reported 2,665 new cases.

There are 4,52,647 active cases (case load) of Corona in the country today. This is 3.8 percent of the total positive cases. There has been an increase of 31,581 cases in total active cases (case load) in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, Kerala and Punjab together account for 73 percent of the total active corona cases in the country.

On the other hand, the total immunization coverage in India has crossed 5.8 crores.

As per provisional report till 7 am today, 5.81 crore (5,81,09,773) vaccine doses have been administered through 9,45,168 sessions. These include 80,96,687 health workers (first dose), 51,44,011 health workers (second dose), 87,52,566 frontline workers (first dose) and 35,39,144 frontline workers (second dose). 61,72,032 beneficiaries (first dose) are those who are over 45 years of age and are suffering from some form of serious illness’. There are more than 2,64,05,333 beneficiaries over 60 years of age.

India (on March 25, 2021) ranks second in the world in terms of number of vaccinations.

Eight states account for 60 percent of the total vaccine doses given so far in India. Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat have crossed the 50 lakh immunization criteria.

According to the preliminary report, more than 26,05,333 vaccine doses were given nationwide on the 70th day of Covid-19 vaccination (26 March 2021). Of these, 24,25,146 health workers and frontline workers were given the first dose of vaccine through 43,281 sessions, and 1,80,187 health workers and frontline workers were given the second dose of the vaccine.

The overall number of people recovering in India today stands at 1,12,95,023. The national recovery rate is 94.84 percent.

In the last 24 hours, 30,386 cases have been cured.

In Maharashtra, 17,019 cases were reported to be resolved in one day.

Covid has killed 291 people in the last 24 hours.

The share of new deaths from corona in five states is 75.6 percent. Maharashtra recorded the highest number of deaths (112). After this, there are 59 daily deaths in Punjab.

In 14 states / Union Territories, no deaths have been reported from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. These states / union territories include Assam, Odisha, Puducherry, Ladakh (Union Territory), Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
