A massive dust storm hit Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) amid days of scorching heat.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Delhi reported winds with over 50 kmph speed.
The weather office had earlier forecast strong winds and a drizzle towards the night. It has also predicted thunderstorm with rain on Saturday, which is likely to bring down the temperatures in the city.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in the national capital on Friday settled at 39 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, according to the Met department.
Earlier, the IMD, in a post on X had said, “Duststorm/ thunderstorm with rain (followed by rain) and gusty winds with speed of 50-70 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh), Gohana, Gannaur, Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda (Haryana) Baraut, Bagpat, Khekra (U.P.). Light intensity rain/drizzle would occur over and adjoining areas of Kaithal, Narwana, Rajaund, Assandh, Safidon, Barwala, Jind, Hissar, Hansi, Siwani, Meham, osham (Haryana) during next 2 hours.”
