Four jawans were martyred and six others were injured in a militants attack on an Indian Army convoy in Machedi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Monday (July 8).
The Machedi area falls under the 9th Corps of the Indian Army.
Speaking to a news agency, defence officials said, “Our jawans also retaliated after the militants opened fire.”
Six militants killed in two encounters in the Valley
Meanwhile, after six militants were killed in two separate encounters in the Valley, 1st Second RR Commander Brigadier Prithviraj Chauhan on Monday said that the killing of militants in south Kashmir is a major setback to Hizbul-Mujahideen.

The first encounter between militants and security forces took place in Modergam village. A few hours later, another encounter broke out in Frisal Chinnigam area of the district.

Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a “rise” in the number of terror attacks in the last few months.
Last month, three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, ADGP Anand Jain said.
