Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project is a great achieved as the last 20 km stretch passing through the eco-sensitive zone of Rajaji National Park is being constructed.
In a series of tweets, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways said that the purpose of the tunnel is to protect the surrounding wildlife.
Gadkari said, “The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project was a success. The last 20 km stretch passes through the eco-sensitive zone of Rajaji National Park, where Asia’s longest elevated wildlife corridor (12 km) is being built. , which includes a 340-metre tooth black tunnel,” Gadkari said.
Once completed, the expressway will reduce the travel time between Dehradun-Delhi from 6 hours to 2.30 hours and between Delhi-Haridwar from 5 hours to 2 hours.
