Indian Airlines plane hijacker Gajinder Singh Khalsa found dead in Pakistan

New Delhi: Gajinder Singh, wanted terrorist and fugitive hijacker of a 1981 Lahore-bound Indian Airlines (IA) flight, has died in Pakistan. Though the circumstances of his death are unclear, he is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

Singh was placed on the list of 20 most wanted terrorists in 2002. He was among the five terrorists who hijacked the IA plane carrying 111 passengers and six crew members on September 29, 1981. They forced the plane to land in Lahore, demanding the release of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and several other Khalistani extremists.

Singh was also a co-founder of terror outfit Dal Khalsa and was actively involved in anti-India activities till recently.
