Kate Middleton and Prince William once broke up during a 30-minute phone call during their dating phase in 2007. In his new biography, “Catherine, the Princess of Wales,” author Robert Jobson goes into detail about the royal couple’s relationship and the challenges they faced before tying the knot in 2011.
After graduating from university, Prince William and Kate had a steady relationship, with William visiting Kate every Friday during her military training at Sandhurst. However, despite signs of a serious relationship, Prince William decided to end things over the New Year in 2007, leaving Kate very sad.
In his biography, Robert Jobson gives insight into the couple’s romance and the obstacles they faced. After graduating in 2005, Prince William, now 42, and Kate, also 42, maintained a committed relationship, with William regularly visiting Kate at her family home. Kate was even invited to Prince William’s military graduation ceremony in December 2006. Despite media speculation and the nickname “Waity Katie,” pressure for an engagement did not immediately build.
“Despite media attention to the subject and receiving the nickname ‘Waity Katie,‘ Catherine knew that William was in no rush to propose, and the truth is that she was prepared to wait until he was ready. After all, they were in love — weren’t they?” Jobson writes, according to an excerpt published by The Daily Mail.
