Char Dham Yatra has a special significance in Hinduism. These include Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham. Every Hindu of the country wants to visit this supernatural abode. The temple of Lord Badrinath is situated on the banks of river Alaknanda in the range of Himalayan Mountains. The history of this temple, built at an altitude of about 3133 meters, is quite old. There are many supernatural stories about it as well. Built in Kasturi style between the Nar and Narayan mountains, this temple is mainly a temple of Lord Vishnu. Here Nar and Narayan are worshipped. Here God is seated in the form of Deity. The temple is divided into three parts.
The temperature of the sanctum sanctorum, darshan mandap and sabhamandap is always 9 to 10 degree Celsius. But the temperature of the Tapt Kund present here is on an average 54 degree Celsius. It is a miracle in itself that the temple which is surrounded by snow-capped hills, where even tap water freezes, how can such hot water remain in this hot pool? Let’s know the secret of this miraculous Tapt Kund-
It is said that by taking a bath in the hot water pool in Badrinath Dham, one gets freedom from all kinds of skin diseases related to the body. The surprising thing is that when touched from outside, the water of the pool feels very hot. But while taking a bath, the water of the pool becomes equal to the temperature of the body. By dividing the main stream of Tapt Kund into two parts, separate bathing pools have been made here for women and men.
It is believed that this water originates from the hills of Neelkanth. It is said that Lord Badrinath meditated here. Today the same holy place is world famous by the name of Tapt Kund.
It is believed that even today in the form of tapas hot water remains in this pool.
It is also believed that the Sun God resides in this Tapt Kund. The priests there tell that the Sun God had committed the sin of killing the eater. Then on the behest of Lord Narayana, the Sun God came to Badrinath and did penance. Since then the Sun God was distracted by the Lord in the form of water. By taking a bath in which people get freedom from all the problems related to their body and at the same time they get freedom from their sins by having darshan of God.
Mana village is situated at a distance of just four kilometers from this temple. It is said that ‘heaven on earth’ emerges from this village. People also say that coming here one gets rid of all the problems related to money.
The Ganesh cave, Bhima bridge and Vyas cave present here contain many mythological stories in themselves. It is said that by bathing in the water of Tapt Kund, devotees not only get rid of their sins but they also get freedom from many diseases. That is why it is said that ‘Badri sadrisam teerth, neither ghost nor future’.
