Mainpuri by-election in UP will be family fight: Dimple Yadav Vs Aparna Yadav

LUCKNOW: Aparna Yadav, the younger daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, met BJP state president Bhupinder Singh Choudhary in Lucknow on Thursday, prompting speculation that she may be projected as the party’s candidate for the Mainpuri bypoll. could. Chaudhary’s meeting with Aparna Yadav coincided with the Samajwadi Party’s announcement of its candidate from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, where the by-election is to be held on December 5.

The SP had earlier in the day declared Dimple Yadav as its candidate, which fell vacant after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Dimple Yadav is the wife of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and also the elder daughter-in-law of the SP founder. He had represented the seat of Kannauj in 2012 and 2014.

A BJP spokesperson termed the meeting between Chaudhary and Aparna Yadav as a “routine” affair. The BJP is yet to announce its candidate from the Mainpuri seat, a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party.

The party spokesperson said the BJP follows a process before declaring a candidate for a seat in any election. Aparna Yadav joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi on January 19 this year and campaigned for it in the assembly elections. She is married to Prateek Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife. Akhilesh Yadav is from his first wife.
