Mayawati’s message to Muslim voters after crushing defeat in Lok Sabha elections

New Delhi: Expressing her disappointment after the results of the Lok Sabha elections, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that Muslim voters have failed to understand the objectives of the party even though the party has tried to give them proper representation in the elections. She said that as a result the party will carefully consider giving electoral opportunities to the community in future.

Mayawati announced that the party will conduct a thorough analysis of the defeat and take necessary steps to protect the party’s interests. She thanked the Dalit community, especially the Jatavs, for their unwavering support.

Mayawati said, “The Muslim community, an important part of the Bahujan Samaj Party, is not able to understand the BSP properly despite being given proper representation in the previous elections and this time’s Lok Sabha general election as well.”

She said, “Therefore, in such a situation, the party will give them a chance in the elections very thoughtfully, so that the party does not have to suffer heavy losses in future like this time.” Mayawati also said that the party has fielded the highest number of Muslim candidates (35) in the recent general election. He called upon the country’s future leaders to consider the country’s democracy, interests and Constitution.

The BSP chief raised concerns over holding elections during extreme heat and criticised the long election process, which he said could be tiring for both the general public and thousands of government employees deployed on election duty. He suggested that the elections should be held in a maximum of three or four phases.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the BSP won 10 seats in alliance with the Samajwadi Party, but it failed to win any seat in 2014 and the recent elections.
