Prashant Kishor makes bold claim to support Narendra Modi and Bihar’s Muslims

Patna: Jan Suraj Party supremo Prashant Kishor on Sunday, 01 September 2024 announced that his party will allot at least 40 seats to Muslim candidates in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Addressing a gathering at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna, Kishor said, “The representation of Muslims in the Bihar Assembly is currently limited to 19 MLAs, while the share of Muslims in the state’s population is 18 to 19 per cent. We are committed to allocating 40 seats to Muslims.”

He accused the JDU, RJD and Congress of taking votes of Muslims without providing them adequate participation, rights or development. He said the aim of Jan Suraj is to ensure representation to every community in Bihar in proportion to its population.

“Muslim participation in Jan Suraj will not be limited to ticket distribution or government formation but will also extend to the organisational structure of the party,” Kishor said. He said that if 25 people are leading Jan Suraj, four to five of them will be from the Muslim community. “I am not seeking votes for mere political convenience but urging the community to vote for Jan Suraj for the future and rights of their children,” he said. He called for reviving the ideologies of leaders like Gandhi, Ambedkar, Lohia and JP and said their principles are more relevant today than ever.

“I supported Narendra Modi in 2014 and from 2015 to 2021 I supported parties and leaders who opposed the BJP. Despite the country having 80 per cent Hindu population, the BJP managed to form the government in Delhi thrice with only 37 per cent vote share. This is an indication that 40 per cent Hindus voted against the BJP, opposing the ideology of hate politics,” Prashant Kishor said.
