Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to King Charles III of Britain

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to Britain’s King Charles III and briefed him about the priorities of India’s G20 chairmanship, including promotion of digital public goods, the government said in a statement.

Later in his first conversation with Charles after taking office, Modi conveyed his best wishes to the king for a very successful reign.

According to India, several topics of mutual interest were discussed during the call, including climate action, conservation of biodiversity, innovative solutions for financing the energy-transition. “The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Her Majesty’s abiding interest and advocacy on these issues,” the government said.

Modi also explained the relevance of Mission LIFE – Lifestyle for Environment, through which India seeks to promote eco-sustainable lifestyle.

“The leaders exchanged views on the Commonwealth of Nations and how to further strengthen its functioning. He also appreciated the role of the Indian community in Britain in serving as a ‘living bridge’ between the two countries and enriching bilateral relations.
