Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said he will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi later in the day and discuss the Ajnala incident, which saw a massive clash between police and supporters of pro-Khalistan activist Amritpal Singh.
“There are some people who receive money from abroad to disturb peace in Punjab sometimes through drones. They come because their masters are determined to trouble Punjab,” he said.
“The Punjab government is committed to maintaining peace and for the sake of the people, I assure the three crore people of Punjab that there is absolutely no worry in the minds of Punjabis to deal with the worst situation in the coming 6-7 months.”
The development comes hours after the Union Home Ministry directed the Punjab Police to submit a detailed report on the Ajnala incident.
They asked the Punjab Police to quash the FIR lodged against Amritpal Singh and his supporters and also threatened to continue their protest indefinitely.
Later, Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh spewed fresh venom and threatened bloodshed. Amritpal Singh has claimed that the Ajnala incident was not violent, saying that “the real violence is yet to be seen”.
Addressing the media at Ajnala, Amritpal Singh said, “You are counting sloganeering and hoisting of flags (Khalistani) as violence… You have not seen the real violence so far.. The real violence is yet to be seen.”
