A mother lost her only son, Shivam, on December 2, 2025. Shivam Dutt was a promising young man pursuing his MBA at the Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) in Pune. On that fateful day, he was playing football with his friends on campus during Sports Week when he suddenly collapsed, the cause of which is still unknown to his family.
A Case of Gross Negligence and Irresponsibility
His friends informed the institute about his condition and requested immediate medical assistance. However, the institute’s doctor failed to understand the severity of Shivam’s condition. They neither provided proper treatment nor arranged for an ambulance. They simply checked Shivam’s blood pressure and heart rate and left.
Reports of the incident and the family’s claims point to potential negligence on the part of the institute, particularly the lack of an ambulance and adequate immediate medical assistance on campus, which resulted in a delay in transporting him to the hospital.
Despite repeated attempts and requests from his friends, the institute failed to arrange an ambulance. Left with no other option, Shivam’s friends had to take him to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. However, he was declared dead upon arrival. His friends stated that Shivam was still breathing on the way to the hospital. He could have been saved if there hadn’t been an unnecessary delay in getting him to the hospital. This was all due to the institute’s negligent attitude towards Shivam. The institute cannot escape its responsibility in this matter.
Symbiosis did not provide an ambulance. He was taken to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. This is a clear case of negligence and irresponsibility. If timely medical help had been provided, he would have survived.
On behalf of Shivam’s family, we humbly request the authorities to conduct an impartial investigation into this heartbreaking incident and take appropriate action against all those responsible. This will ensure that no other mother has to lose her son in this manner in the future.
