In an interview, Sudha explained the reason behind this decision. “I went to Kashi to take a holy dip and when you go to Kashi, you have to give up what you enjoy the most. I have since given up shopping, especially saris. Now I only buy the essentials,” she said. This vow has given direction to her life, which reflects her commitment to simplicity and spirituality.
Sudha’s husband Narayana Murthy also shares her minimalist philosophy. He prefers spending on books, owning a collection of about 20,000 volumes. This intellectual wealth underlines his value of knowledge and learning over material possessions
