New Delhi: PM Modi landed in Rome on Friday for the first in-person summit of the G20 since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. Modi said he and other G20 leaders “will take stock of the current global situation and exchange ideas on how the G20 can be an engine for strengthening economic resilience and building back inclusively and sustainably from the pandemic”.

On day 1 of his visit to Italy, after reaching Rome on Friday he had met presidents of European Council and European Commission. Modi also paid floral tribute at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi and interacted with the Indian diaspora. Later in the day, PM Modi held bilateral talks with Italian counterpart Mario Draghi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (October 30) will call on Pope Francis at the Vatican City on the second day of his Italy and UK trip.

Ahead of delegation-level talks where the duo can discuss a range of issues, the PM will pay a courtesy call to the Pope. “The Prime Minister will have a separate call. He will be meeting his Holiness on a one-on-one basis. And that could, after a certain period of time, be followed up by delegation-level talks,” Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told reporters on Friday (October 29) laying out the itinerary of the PM’s visit.

Shringla said no agenda has been laid out for the talks. “I believe tradition is not to have an agenda when you discuss issues with His Holiness. And I think we respect that. I’m sure the issues that will be covered would cover a range of areas of interests in terms of the general global perspectives and issues that are important to all of us,” he said.

The Foreign Secretary added, “COVID-19, health issues, how we can work together and this is something that, I think would be the general trend in the discussions.”

After meeting the Pope, PM Modi will depart to attend the 16th G20 summit where a host of issues including global economic situation, COVID-19 pandemic, sustainable development and climate change will be discussed. “The PM will join other G20 leaders in discussions on global economic and health recovery from the pandemic, sustainable development and climate change among other issues,” ANI quoted Shringla as saying.

Following the G20 summit, PM Modi will participate in bilateral meetings with President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of Indonesia Joko Widodo and Singapore counterpart Lee Hosein Loong.

Since the last 16 days, less than 300 new deaths are being recorded in the country.

As a part of the Covid management and response policy, the central government’s major focus has been not only on limiting Covid but also on reducing lives and providing quality clinical care to Covid’s acute and acute patients. Has been on saving too. Health facilities across the country have been strengthened as a result of the collaborative efforts of the Central and State / UT Governments.

This figure shows a change in active cases in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra recorded the maximum number of positive cases with 1,123 cases while Rajasthan recorded the maximum negative change with a decline of 672 cases.

India has the lowest number of active cases per million population in the world. In India, this number is 162, while more active cases per million population have been reported in countries such as Brazil, Russia, Germany, Italy, Britain, and America.

France has opened the UK for 48 hours from midnight on Sunday. Banned all travel, including trucks transporting through the tunnel under the English Channel or from the port of Dover on the southern coast of England. French officials said it would take time to find a “general principle” on how to deal with the threat, but it threw the busy cross-channel route used by thousands of trucks into chaos.

Eurostar passenger trains from London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam were also halted.

Germany said that all flights from Britain, except for cargo flights, were no longer allowed to start from midnight on Sunday. It was not immediately told how long the flight ban would last. Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Crew said he was issuing a 24-hour flight ban, “out of precaution”, starting at midnight. There are many of questions about this new mutation, he said

A senior Canadian government official told that Canada would also ban flights from the UK. Officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly before the formal announcement, said the ban would take effect from Monday. The official said that cargo flights would not be affected.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday that a new version of the virus that is 70% more infectious than existing strains has appeared to increase the rapid spread of new infections in London and southern England in recent weeks. But he stressed that “there is no evidence to prove that it is more fatal or causes more serious disease,” or that the vaccines would be less effective for it.

On Sunday, British Health Secretary Matt Hancock added the alarm when he said the “new version is out of control.” The U.K. Reported 35,928 cases recorded a week earlier, nearly double that.

Germany, who holds the position of the rotating European Union president, called a special crisis meeting between the bloc’s 27 member states on Monday to coordinate the response to the news of the virus. The Netherlands also banned flights for at least the rest of the year. Ireland issued a 48-hour flight ban. Italy said it would block flights from U.6 to 6 January, and an order was signed on Sunday in the last 14 days.

The Czech Republic implemented stringent quarantine measures on people arriving from Britain. Beyond Europe, Israel also stated that it was banning flights from Britain, Denmark, and South Africa because they were the countries where the mutation is found.

The WHO tweeted late Saturday that it was “in close contact with US officials on the new # COVID19 virus version” and promised to update governments and the public has learned more.

A WHO official told the BBC on Sunday that the new strain was identified in southeastern England in September and has since spread to the region
