‘There is a price to pay for waking up a sleeping nation’: Kangana Ranaut

Amid the controversy surrounding her film Emergency, Kangana Ranaut has spoken out on being “targeted”. The actress shared a note on X (formerly Twitter), in which she suggested that she has haters because she is attempting to wake up a “sleeping nation”. Kangana emphasised the importance of taking a stand and said that people will recognise the value of “uncool” people like her only when their safety is at risk.

She wrote: “Today I have become everyone’s favourite target, there is a price you pay for waking up this sleeping nation, they don’t know what I am talking about, they don’t know why I am so concerned, because they want peace, they don’t want to take sides. They are cool, you know they are cool!”

The Dhaakad actress added, “Ha ha I wish that poor soldier at the border also had the same privilege of being cool, I wish he didn’t have to take sides, and didn’t have to consider Pakistanis/Chinese as his enemy. He is protecting you while you can lust after terrorists or anti-national people.”

She also mentioned the Kolkata rape and murder case in the post. Ranaut asked, “I wish that young woman whose only crime was that she was alone on the road and was raped was probably a gentle and kind person who loved humanity, but was her humanity repaid?”

“I wish all the robbers and criminals also had the same love and affection as this cool and sleeping generation, but the truth of life is different. Don’t worry they are coming after you, if even a few of us become cool like you they will catch you and then you will know the importance of uncool people,” she concluded.
