Ujjain MP Anil Firojia is making headlines for all the good reasons. Enthused by the promise of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, the BJP MP lost around 15 kgs in return for development in his constituency. After Nitin Gadkari had promised that his ministry would shed Rs 1,000 crore per kilogram of weight for development works in his constituency, the BJP MP took up the challenge and passed it with flying colours.
In an interview with news agency in June Firozia had said, “The ‘Fit India’ movement was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told me on stage that I would pay Rs 1,000 for every kilogram I lose. Will earn Rs. Crore. For development works in Ujjain. I took it as a challenge and have lost 15 kg so far. I will reduce it further and request them to release the money as promised.”
“If weight loss leads to more budget allocation for Ujjain, I am ready to continue my fitness regime for the development of the constituency,” he said.
The BJP MP said that he follows a strict diet chart for weight loss. Firozia explained about her fitness regime and said, “I wake up at 5.30 am and then go for morning walk. My morning workout consists of running, exercise and yoga. I follow an Ayurvedic diet chart. I eat a light breakfast. For lunch and dinner, I eat a salad, a bowl of green vegetables and a roti made of mixed grains. Sometimes I have carrot soup or dry fruits in between “
Anil Firojia said that he accepted the challenge and lost almost 32 kgs. Anil Firojia said, “I met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and told him and he was very happy to know about it. As promised, he has approved development plans worth Rs 2,300 crore for the area.”
Earlier in February this year, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had said in a public program in Ujjain, “I had put a condition to allocate funds to Firojiya ji. Once my weight was 135 kg more than Firojiya ji. But now my weight is 93 kg. I showed him my old picture. It’s hard to recognize me in that photo. I will allot Rs 1,000 crore for each kilo of his weight.”
