The Uttarakhand cabinet approved several proposals in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday.
DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand government on Thursday decided to reduce the annual fee for MBBS courses from ₹4 lakh to ₹1.45 lakh in 18 government medical colleges in the state, claiming it is the lowest in the country.
Cabinet minister and state government spokesperson Subodh Uniyal said the proposal was approved in a cabinet meeting convened by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday evening.
Uniyal also said that the cabinet has also approved Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana, under which women in the state will be provided nutritious food like fruits, dry fruits and eggs twice a week.
The minister said that the cabinet has also approved a proposal to increase the incentive given to ASHA assistants from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 for 20 visits.
The cabinet has approved the provisions related to stone crusher policy 2021, Uttarakhand river dredging policy 2021, changes in tender conditions for expediting the purchase of preloaded tablets for class X and XII students and subsidy being given under Veer Chandra Singh. Simplification is also approved. Garhwali Tourism Self Employment Scheme.
The Uttarakhand cabinet also decided that a two-day assembly session would be convened on November 29 and 30. It will be held at Gairsain.

Uniyal said that it has also been decided that a maximum bonus of Rs 7,000 will be given to state government employees with 4800 pay grades and Rs 1,184 to daily wage earners. “This decision will benefit around 1.6 lakh employees and daily wagers in the state. This will have a financial impact of about ₹130 crore on the state exchequer”, he said.
Ahead of the cabinet meeting, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence here. He discussed various issues including elections and the current political situation in the state where elections are to be held in the state next year.
