In the 2025 Vice Presidential Election, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan was elected the 15th Vice President of India. He received 452 votes, while opposition party India Bloc’s candidate, former Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy, got 300 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Radhakrishnan and praised his lifelong commitment to social service, empowering the poor and strengthening constitutional values. Modi expressed confidence that Radhakrishnan would be an outstanding Vice President and take the parliamentary dialogue forward. The election, held at Parliament House on September 9, 2025, saw 98.20% voter turnout, with 767 of the 781 MPs casting their votes. Fifteen votes were declared invalid and 13 MPs from parties such as Biju Janata Dal, Bharat Rashtra Samiti and Shiromani Akali Dal abstained from voting. Radhakrishnan, a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu and the current Governor of Maharashtra, has had a long political career associated with the RSS and the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

Returning Officer P.C. Modi said that Radhakrishnan won the Vice Presidential election on Tuesday by securing 452 votes, while opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy got 300 votes.
