One of the most successful captains of the Indian cricket team across all formats, run-machine Virat Kohli has decided to step down from the national T20 captaincy after the conclusion of the ICC World T20. The Indian captain across all formats announced on social media that he will no longer lead Team India in the shortest format after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup.

The Indian skipper revealed that he has reached his decision after discussing it with head coach Ravi Shastri and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. After Kohli confirmed that he would step down as India’s T20 captain after the T20 World Cup, the entire cricket fraternity lauded the ace cricketer for making the Asian giants stronger during his iconic captaincy .

From veteran sports presenter Harsha Bhogle, former cricketer Irfan Pathan to former England captain Michael Vaughan, many cricketers and cricket pundits lauded Kohli for leading the Indian team in the shortest format. In a statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, board president Sourav Ganguly lauded Kohli for being a true asset to Indian cricket, who led the way to the 2007 world champions.
