He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2020 and became a Union minister in the Modi government in July this year.
On the reasons for his exit from the Congress, Scindia said, “Congress is a party where no entry or exit interviews are conducted.”
The party’s government in Madhya Pradesh collapsed last year due to Scindia’s resignation from Congress. More than 25 Congress MLAs had resigned from the party to join BJP after Scindia.
In the by-elections, Scindia ensured victory for most of the defecting leaders, some of whom were inducted into the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. The by-elections propelled Scindia to the Union government as the Minister of Civil Aviation.
