Here’s how Indian fans flooded social media with hopes of Afghanistan’s win over New Zealand
After two consecutive defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand in the ongoing T20 World Cup, India made a spectacular comeback with consecutive victories against Afghanistan and Scotland.
However, based on the match between Afghanistan and New Zealand on 7 November, the chances of the team qualifying for the semi-finals are still up in the air.
As the excitement is building up for the upcoming match between Black Caps and Afghanistan, social media is flooded with memes regarding the same.
Several users used pictures and songs from Hindi films to reflect what the Indians were expecting after winning the match against Afghanistan.
Weather Forecast for today’s NZ vs AFG match
Afghanistan are coming down with a defeat at the hands of India, and they will now take on New Zealand in their upcoming T20 World Cup game, a virtual quarter-final for the sides. Afghanistan, who have played four matches so far in the Super 12 stage, will have to win this match against New Zealand if they are to hope for a place in the semi-finals.
If Afghanistan beats New Zealand, India have a chance of making it to the semi-finals provided they beat Namibia in their last match.
New Zealand, on the other hand, defeated Namibia in their last match and after their top order failed, the lower middle order – James Neesham and Glenn Phillips – were brilliant and would be keen to beat Afghanistan to finish in the top four.
Run by Trent Boult and Tim Southee, New Zealand have all bases covered, and their spinners in Ish Sodhi and Michael Santner have been good in this tournament.
On the other hand, Afghanistan have the batsmen to challenge this bowling attack. Najibullah Zadran, Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz could become a cause of great concern for New Zealand.
Abu Dhabi is expected to remain hot and dry and the weather could take a toll on the players. There is no chance of any rain and overall weather conditions, especially since it is a day’s play. The temperature is likely to be around 35 to 36 degrees. As far as humidity is concerned, it is expected to be around 55 per cent and wind speed around 18-20 km/h.
