Simran Lal hails from a well-known business family who heads a company with a market capitalization of Rs 80,000 crore. Her family owns the Eicher Group, which owns Royal Enfield. Her brother is renowned business leader Sid Lal. She could have joined her family’s famous business. However, she had other plans. Simran Lal is the CEO of Good Earth, a brand founded by her mother in 1996.
Simran Lal joined Good Earth in 2002. Before becoming CEO, he worked as an executive in the company, handling various functions including streamlining the supply chain and sales. He transformed the company and made it one of India’s most successful luxury lifestyle brands selling fashion, home and wellness items.
Later she co-founded a lifestyle brand called Nicobar with her husband Raul Rai. The company was incorporated in 2017.
When he assumed the post of CEO, the company’s revenue was Rs 5 crore and in 2016-2017 it increased to Rs 150 crore.
Simran Lal’s Education Simran Lal did her Masters in Art History from Bangalore University. Later she went to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Buoyed by the success of his new company, she launched Paro, a sub-brand of Good Earth.
Good Earth’s USP is high-end products in the fashion, interiors and lifestyle space.
Lal had said in an interview a few years ago that his family environment is not like a traditional business family. She used to visit craft museums, potters’ villages and other studios in Delhi. She was always artistic. She was interested in archaeology, language, art and architecture.
She opened his flagship store in Mumbai in 2005. Two years later, she opened a store in Delhi’s Khan Market.
In 2013, the company launched an online boutique.
She said in another interview that she takes care of her employees as they are the biggest ambassadors of the brand. She said that growing one’s business involves taking people along. She said it was his biggest lesson.
She is the daughter of Vikram Lal. The total assets of the Lal family are more than 54000 crore rupees.
Eicher Motors was founded by Vikram Lal’s father Man Mohan Lal.
Simran’s brother Sid Lal is often credited with reviving the classic motorcycle brand Royal Enfield. He joined the company in 2000 and led it from the front as CEO. He transformed the company into two-wheelers, selling more than 8 lakh vehicles.
