Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday alleged that all Congress MLAs in the state were indulging in illegal sand trade, but said he would not reveal anyone’s name in public.

“Ask me who isn’t involved. If I start naming names, I have to start from the top. I don’t want to do that,” he said with a smile while talking to select media persons at his farmhouse in Mohinder Bagh in Parol village.

Amarinder was replying to a question whether he would make a list and call the MLAs engaged in illegal sand mining. Sources said the former CM had told Congress President Sonia Gandhi that he had intelligence reports that several MLAs of his party were involved in illegal sand trade.

He reiterated the same point during the Punjab Assembly session.

Presenting a grim security scenario in Punjab with constant threats to peace from Pakistan, Amarinder said sleeper cells of various terrorist groups were active and sought the help and support of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence to create trouble in Punjab. were using.

The former CM went on to elaborate further on the huge cache of arms and ammunition that Pakistan has managed to infiltrate into this part of the border. “This is just a part which has come to the notice of our security forces. He said that drones coming within 30 to 50 km radius of the state are regularly entering the state, but Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa did not take the matter seriously.

The former CM said that in the changed security scenario in South Asia, with China and Pakistan having come together and almost become “one country”, India would need to be more vigilant and vigilant. He said that considering the geographical location of Punjab, the state is now facing more security challenges.

Amarinder revealed that China had invested $29 billion in Pakistan. He said it has built a huge infrastructure by building highways and tunnels that will carry Chinese goods directly to the Gwadar port, which provides Chinese access to Central Asia.

He said while Afghanistan desperately needs financial help and China is ready to give it, India will have another problem with the hostile Taliban, which can be used by China to infiltrate into India. He said that he was writing a book on the landscape and was doing research on the subject at the moment.

The former chief minister said India needs to develop a more sophisticated missile system to shoot down drones. He said, the efficiency of drones in terms of distance covered and load-bearing is being enhanced which is a potential threat to the country as it gives Pakistan more options to smuggle drugs and weapons into our country.
