BCCI Issues Final Warning to Mohsin Naqvi

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed concern over the delay in receiving the Asia Cup trophy, which the Indian men’s team won earlier this year in Dubai. India defeated Pakistan in a thrilling final, but the team refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is both the head of the Asian Cricket Council and the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. This decision was in line with the Indian team’s stance of not interacting with Pakistani players following the terrorist attack in Pulwama earlier this year.

The trophy presentation in Dubai was delayed by over an hour, after which the trophy was removed from the field without explanation. This forced the Indian team, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, to celebrate their victory on the field without the trophy for the first time.

According to BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia, the trophy has still not reached the board’s headquarters.

Saikia said, “Ten days ago, we wrote to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairperson and requested them to hand over the trophy to the BCCI as soon as possible. However, we have not received it to date.”

Saikia stated that they will wait one more day for the trophy to be delivered before contacting the ICC.

He said, “If we do not receive the trophy by November 3, there will be a meeting at the ICC headquarters in Dubai, where we will lodge our complaint with the biggest governing body of international cricket.”

He further added, “We are confident that the ICC will do justice and help India get the trophy as soon as possible.
