Washington: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to the US on an official state visit, Congress leader Sam Pitroda said the prime minister of the world’s most populous country deserves respect everywhere and he is “proud” of it. Pitroda, president of the Indian Overseas Congress, is currently accompanying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his six-day three-city US tour.
While Gandhi has focused her alternative vision of India against the ruling BJP and has been highly critical of the government led by Prime Minister Modi, she has supported the ruling party’s foreign policy on issues such as the war in Ukraine and China.
“He (Gandhi) knows that we (India) are doing something right, we are all for it. And you see, somebody told me that, the Indian Prime Minister is getting a lot of welcome. And I said I am happy. “It is because after all he is also my prime minister. But make no mistake. He is being welcomed because he is the prime minister of India. An interview.”
Senior Congress leader Pitroda said, “A prime minister of a country of 1.5 billion people deserves respect everywhere. And I am proud of it. What are you talking about? First of all, they have nothing to do with it. The entire trip has been arranged by the Indian Overseas Congress. I have personally supervised every programme,” he said, adding there were around 17 programs in total.
Pitroda said that the ongoing visit of Rahul Gandhi has created hope and enthusiasm in America. Pitroda said, “Both of us (he and Gandhi) are convinced that the message has to go to the world leaders today. The world leaders are not aware of the reality and its implications.” “For example, in a big meeting we had today in private, we told them that the periodic table has been removed from the school curriculum. They said it is not possible.
I said, how do you know that? And the theory of evolution has been removed. And they were shocked. He said, how can you be a scientific nation when all these NRIs are running multi-billion dollar companies and the periodic table has now been removed from their country? What will happen to the next generation of people?” Pitroda said.

Responding to a question, Pitroda said that if Indian democracy goes on the wrong path, the world will pay the price. Looks like people have to understand.
