Corona Update: More than 230 million COVID tests conducted across the country

New Delhi: The number of trials of Covid across the country has crossed 230 million today. So far 23,03,13,163 trials have been done. The overall national positive rate in the country remains below 5.00 percent.

It is 4.98 percent today. In India, 140 Covid tests per million population per day were conducted and the daily positive rate is 3.37 percent as of today. On the other hand, India is fast approaching vaccination of close to 4 crores. According to the preliminary report, 3,71,43,255 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been given through 6,15,267 sessions till 7 am today.

So far 75,68,844 health workers (HCWs) have been given the first dose of vaccine while 46,32,940 health workers have taken the second dose. At the same time, 77,16,084 frontline workers have taken the first and 19,09,528 frontline workers have taken the second dose. 1,28,58,680 beneficiaries are over 60 years of age while 24,57,179 beneficiaries are those who are over 45 years of age and are suffering from some form of serious illness.

According to the preliminary report, more than 2 million (20,78,719) vaccine doses were given on the 61st day of Covid-19 vaccination across the country (17 March 2021).

Of these, 17,38,750 beneficiaries were given the first dose of vaccine through 28,412 sessions and 3,39,969 health workers and frontline workers were given the second dose of the vaccine.

The total active cases (caseloads) of corona in India today are 2,52,364. Currently active cases in India constitute 2.20 percent of the total positive cases in the country. In the last 24 hours, 17,958 cases were reported in total active cases (caseload).

Five states, Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, are reporting a steady increase in new cases of Covid. 79.54 percent of the new cases reported in Corona were registered in these five states.

In the last 24 hours, 35,871 new cases of corona were registered.

Maharashtra recorded the highest number of daily new cases of 16,620 (63.21 per cent of daily new cases). This is followed by 1,792 new cases in Kerala and 1,492 new cases in Punjab.

8 states are witnessing a steady increase in corona cases on a daily basis. These states are: Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka and Haryana.

There has been a steady decline in Covid cases in Kerala during the last one month.

The overall number of people recovering in India today stands at 1,10,63,025. The national recovery rate is 96.41 percent. In the last 24 hours, 17,741 cases have been cured.

Covid has killed 172 people in the last 24 hours.

84.88 percent of the new cases of death are related to five states. Maharashtra has the highest number of deaths of 84 patients in the last 24 hours. After this, 35 people have died in Punjab and 13 in Kerala.

Death rate in Covid cases remains below 1.5 per cent (1.39 per cent) and continues to decline.

In eighteen states / union territories no deaths from Covid-19 have been reported in the last 24 hours. These states / union territories include Rajasthan, Assam, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Jharkhand, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Ladakh, Manipur, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar. Islands, and Arunachal Pradesh.
