India Pakistan News Live Updates: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today visited the Bhuj Air Force Station in Gujarat, a day after completing a visit to Badami Bagh Cantt in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where he met and interacted with Indian Army personnel.
Amid the ongoing tensions since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, India and Pakistan have extended the ceasefire till May 18, sources said, adding that the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of New Delhi and Islamabad are scheduled to hold talks soon. During the meeting, the DGMOs of the two countries will review the situation along the border. This comes a day after India and Pakistan decided to continue their confidence-building measures to gradually reduce the level of high alertness along the LoC and border areas.
On the intervening night of May 7 and 8, India launched Operation Sindoor to target terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam attack. The operation escalated bilateral tensions as it led to attacks and counter-attacks between the two countries. Last week, India and Pakistan signed an agreement to stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea with immediate effect. However, Pakistan violated the agreement within hours of it coming into force.
