Covid-19 catches up with sprinter Usain Bolt

New Delhi: Eight-time Olympic medalist and former runner Usain Bolt is undergoing treatment after being found to be Covid-19 positive. Bolt, who was partying fiercely without a mask on his 34th birthday last week, has quarantined himself at home.

The health minister of Jamaica confirmed this news before Usain had put a small video on the social media, in which he expressed the possibility of being positive. Also, he said, he had isolated himself as a precaution.

While celebrating his birthday on August 21, Bolt did not follow the protocol of social distancing. A video is going viral on the social media, which is being linked to the ‘King of the Track’. It shows the members of the party following neither the social distancing norms nor covering their faces with a mask.

British media company Daily Mail quoted Jamaica radio station ‘National Wide 90 FM’ as claiming that Bolt’s party also included English football club Manchester United player Rahim Sterling.

Bolt, who became a child’s father in May this year, retired in 2017. The Caribbean sprinter won the 100m and 200m in three consecutive Olympics (2008, 2012, 2016) before saying goodbye to athletics. It is a world record.

Now Bolt’s fans on the social media are wishing for his speedy recovery while some are even finding fault with him for being negligent. Bolt is currently undergoing treatment.
