Domestic passengers arriving in Delhi now have a new arrival terminal, which is going to be operational soon. The new arrival terminal of Delhi Airport’s T1 offers a unique experience to the passengers.

“The existing domestic arrivals operations will now move to the newly constructed arrivals terminal, which will enable DIAL to demolish the existing arrivals terminal, T1C. Building was the need of the hour. This will help in enhancing the operational efficiency of the airport,” said Mr. Prabhakar Rao, Dy. Managing Director, GMR Group.
The new arrival terminal spans an 8000 square meter new arrival hall, equipped with four new baggage reclaim carousels. The airport’s terminal capacity will increase to 10 million passengers annually.
DIAL has used the concept of daylight in the terminal building, which will reduce power consumption, as there will be enough natural light during the day. In addition, lighting fixtures and appliances such as HVAC and baggage belts are energy efficient and thus consume less electricity.
Apart from these, DIAL has also used eco-friendly and human-friendly products in the terminal.
T1 will now have 11 pickup lanes. Outside the new arrivals terminal, the pickup lane has been re-aligned and expanded into three additional lanes. This will reduce traffic congestion and greatly improve the passenger experience and convenience during pickup.
Upon completion, the new Terminal 1 will have integrated arrivals and departures terminals, a new node building housing retail and F&B outlets, and a pier building with 22 contact stands.
The new terminal will provide a better on-arrival experience to the passengers. Spacious spaces between baggage belts for ease of movement, greenery inside the terminal, modern food courts, state-of-the-art meat and greets galleries, ample parking space, and more.
