Lord Vishnu will go into Yoga Nidra for four months from Devshayani Ekadashi till Devotthani Ekadashi. Then they will come out of Yoga Nidra on Devuthani Ekadashi, then Chaturmas will end. Devuthani Ekadashi is on 23 November. In this way Chaturmas will start from 30th June and will end on 23rd November. This time, due to Shravan Purushottam month, it is for two months, so the duration of Chaturmas will be five months. During this all auspicious works will be closed. Chaturmas of 148 days, Mahadev will see the work of creation
This year Devshayani Ekadashi will be on June 29 and Dev Uthani Ekadashi will be on November 23, so Chaturmas will be of 148 days. In these days Lord Vishnu will be in Yoga Nidra. According to mythological beliefs, Lord Bholenath will have the responsibility of handling the creation and running the work during this period. During this, religious rituals can be performed but auspicious work will not be done.
Manglik works are not done in Chaturmas
Lord Vishnu is called the maintainer of the universe. It is not considered auspicious to do auspicious work like marriage, mundan, janeu etc. after Shri Hari has gone into the state of rest. It is believed that doing auspicious work during this time does not get the blessings of God. Gods and Goddesses are invoked in auspicious works. Lord Vishnu is in Yog Nidra, so he is unable to be present in auspicious works. Due to which auspicious works are banned in these months.
Lord Vishnu lives in Patal
According to the scriptures, King Bali, the ruler of Hades, had sought a boon from Lord Vishnu to stay in his palace in Patal, so it is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in King Bali’s palace in Patal for the next four months from Devshayani Ekadashi. Apart from this, according to other beliefs, Shivji resides in Patal till Mahashivaratri and Brahma ji from Shivratri to Devshayani Ekadashi.
