When Lord Vishnu wakes up from sleep on the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik, then all the auspicious works start again. According to religious beliefs, from Devshayani Ekadashi to Devotthan Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu rests on Sheshnag in Kshirsagar. All auspicious works are banned during these four months.
