From time immemorial the entire universe including the Sun is chanting ‘Om’

Rishis say, this sound of Om (Om Chanting) is the medium to reach the divine. This is his name. Maharishi Patanjali says ‘Tasya Vachakah Pranav’ means the name of God is Pranav. Pranav means ‘Om’.

Scientists of America’s Space Agency NASA (NASA) after much research recorded a sound that occurs every moment in the Sun by instruments in deep space. Scientists were amazed when they heard that sound because this sound was nothing but the Vedic sound ‘Om’ (OM) of Indian culture. It sounds exactly the same as when we say ‘Om’. This mantra has been praised not only in the Vedas, but also in our other texts.

The wonder was that how did our sages hear the deep sound which man cannot hear with his ears. A normal person can hear only sounds of 20 mega hertz to 20 thousand mega hertz. This is the hearing power of our ear. It is not possible to hear sound below or above that. The senses have a limit, they cannot give any information less or more than that.

The wonder of the scientists was actually the miracle of the higher state of samadhi in which the sages heard that sound, felt it and wrote it before every mantra of the Vedas and called it ‘Mahamantra’. Rishis say, this sound of Om (Om Chanting) is the medium to reach the divine. This is his name. Maharishi Patanjali says ‘Tasya Vachakah Pranav’ means the name of God is Pranav. Pranav means ‘Om’.

Now the question arises that why is this sound happening in the Sun? The answer to this has been given in the Gita. Lord Shri Krishna says to Arjuna – The knowledge of Yoga which I gave to you, I gave it to the sun in the beginning. If seen, since then the sun is shining continuously chanting only ‘Om’ since time immemorial. Not only the sun, the whole universe is doing this chanting.

The sages had said that this sound can be experienced in meditation, but cannot be heard by the ears. This sound is called the power of Shiva or the first sound emanating from his Damru, this is Anhad Naad.

Not only in the universe, this sound is resonating in the innermost depths of our consciousness as well. When we chant ‘Om’, first of all the mind is empty of thoughts. Even after this chanting continues, the frequency of the seeker’s chanting becomes equal to the frequency of the sound of ‘Om’ resonating in that universe. At that time the seeker goes into the depths of meditation. This state is called Oneness or Samadhi or Advaita. In this state the mind merges with the consciousness.
