Google has enough of employees, but very little work: Sundar Pichai

New Delhi: It seems that Google CEO Sundar Pichai is not happy with the performance of many employees. The executive held a meeting and warned his employees to work efficiently and to focus on improving their products optimally and helping customers.

Pichai believes productivity is missing and this is not where he should be considering the number of people Google has. It basically states that the CEO thinks that Google has too many employees, but many of them don’t work efficiently.

A News report claimed that Pichai asked employees to “create a culture that is more mission-focused, more focused on our products, more customer-focused. We should be thinking about how we can reduce distractions and really raise the bar on both product excellence. and productivity.”

The news comes just days after Google reported that the second quarter of 2022 was “weaker than expected” in terms of earnings and revenue, which was also the case for the first quarter. The cited source says that the software giant has reportedly seen 13 per cent lower growth in the quarter compared to last year.

More recently, the search giant is looking to “review headcount needs and align them to a new set of priority staffing requests for the next three months.” This suggests that the company may soon sack some employees for efficiency and productivity, lack of skills and to save costs.

The announcement comes just weeks after the company said it would slow down the hiring process, which would reportedly take place for the rest of the year. Many big tech companies have either laid off hundreds of employees or have slowed hiring for fear of a recession.
