To reduce vehicular traffic on toll plazas, the Government of India (GOI) has made a rule that Pan India will have to pay toll charges to all vehicles traveling through toll plazas using FASTag. NHAI initiated the program for electronic toll collection at the toll plaza on the National Highway called FASTag.

FASTag is mandatory for all private and commercial vehicles. However, to drive through a lane equipped with Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) on a highway toll plaza without any hassle, you need to make sure that you have enough money in the wallet.

What is FASTag?
FASTag is a device that employs radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to make toll payments from a directly connected prepaid account.

It is to be affixed to the windscreen of your vehicle and enables you to drive through the toll plaza. The validity of FASTag is 5 years and after purchasing it, all you need to do is recharge or top up FASTag according to your requirement.

Every bank has a dedicated FASTag portal, where you can log in and check your account balance. The login process is different for every bank but once you log in, you can see your account details.

Open the web interface of your respective bank and you can easily opt for FASTag on the homepage.

FASTag: Here’s how to check account balance with NHAI Wallet:
On your phone, open on Play Store or Store App Store. Download the ‘My Fastag App’ on your mobile device. It is compatible with both iOS and Android.

Please enter your login details.
Now you can see your balance.

FASTag: Here’s how to check the balance through missed call alert facility: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a ‘missed call alert facility’ for users to check their FASTag balance.

Those who have registered their mobile number with NHAI prepaid wallet can know the balance by giving a missed call on + 91-8884333331.

Users who have added their FASTags to other prepaid wallets will not be able to take advantage of this feature. The number is toll-free and the facility is available round the clock.

If more than one vehicle is connected to NHAI’s prepaid wallet, the SMS will show the cumulative balance of all tags assigned to the vehicles.

Other extra benefits adding to FASTags

FASTags can be used to pay parking fees at malls, airports and other private parking lots across key metros – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru.

Such payments will be contactless, which assumes significance given the highly contagious nature of the novel coronavirus.
