Saumya Sharma studied law at the prestigious National Law University (NLU) in Delhi. After completing her studies, she appeared for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination in 2017, soon after her time at NLU. Remarkably, she started this journey at the young age of 22.
Unlike many aspirants, Saumya Sharma decided not to join any coaching institute for UPSC preparation. Instead, she relied on various test series to enhance her preparation for the exam. This self-study approach proved beneficial as she cleared the preliminary examination.
Just a week before the main examination, Soumya developed high fever. However, her determination remained unwavering. Despite her illness, she sat for the exam with a persistent temperature of 102-103 degrees. Soumya was given saline drip thrice a day, even during breaks in the examination hall.
Saumya Sharma’s remarkable academic prowess became evident during the UPSC examination. Despite suffering from hearing impairment, she did not rely on any concession and applied under general category. Her strong foundation in general knowledge along with her ability to understand and analyze questions quickly helped him in her success. Subjects such as history and geography, where she had a particularly strong command over general knowledge, contributed significantly to her performance.
