Nitish Kumar likely to induct newly elected MLC Shahnawaz Hussain in Bihar cabinet expansion

CM Nitish Kumar is expected to induct 22 new ministers into his cabinet today. Reports said that BJP will get 9 more births while JD (U) will get 8 seats in the state cabinet.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will extend his cabinet on Tuesday, 80 days after the coalition resumed in November last year. The induction of new members in the state cabinet will take place in the afternoon at Raj Bhavan, where he will be sworn in by Governor Fagu Chauhan.

The state cabinet currently has 14 members including the chief minister. Seven ministers are from BJP quota, five from Janata Dal-United and one each from Hindustani Awam Morcha and the developing Human Party. As per norms, it can have 36 members.

The most likely names to cut the cabinet from BJP are Shahnawaz Hussain, Samrat Chaudhary, Nitin Naveen and Sanjeev Chaurasia. Meanwhile, Jama Khan, Sanjay Jha and Sumit Singh are also likely to get cabinet births from JD (U).

Other JDU leaders like Madan Sahni, Neeraj Kumar and Jayant Kushwaha and BJP leaders Sanjay Saravagi, Bhagirathi Devi and Neeraj Bablu can also make the final list of cabinet ministers. The JD (U) -BJP alliance expanded the cabinet due to the reopening of the government in November last year.

BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain was recently transferred to state politics and was sworn in as a member of the Bihar Legislative Council elections last month.
