Pak violates ceasefire near LoC, 4 martyrs including 1 jawan of Uttrakhand

New Delhi: While the entire nation is preparing to celebrate Diwali on the one hand, Pakistan on the other hand violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kamalkot sector, Gurez sector and Keran sector in Jammu and Kashmir. Three civilians died on Friday due to heavy firing by Pakistani soldiers, while 4 soldiers were also martyred. Military sources said Pakistani soldiers fired mortars and other weapons. The civilian has been sent to a medical facility for treatment. The Indian Army gave a befitting reply to Pakistan.

Military officials said that apart from Uri’s Kamalkot sector, ceasefire violations were reported from two other places – Izamarg in Gurez sector in Bandipora district and Keran sector in Kupwara district. The defense spokesman also said that the army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Keran sector.

Firing was also carried out in Baramulla in violation of ceasefire from Pakistan. BSF jawan Rakesh Doval, who was injured in this nefarious act, has become a martyr. Rakesh Doval was a resident of Ganganagar in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. He was a member of the BSF Artie Regiment and posted to the rank of constable.

According to media reports, 3 civilians were killed in firing towards Pakistan in Kamalkot sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from Kamalkot in Uri, ceasefire violations also occurred in Gurez sector of Bandipora and Keran sector of Kupwara district.

This was his second attempt to infiltrate within a week. Earlier on the night of 7-8 November, infiltration into Machil sector was thwarted. During this three terrorists were also killed. Three soldiers, including the captain and a BSF jawan, were killed during the operation. The spokesman said, “The Indian Army is fully prepared to thwart all attempts by Pakistan to infiltrate the terrorists.” (With agency input)
